Included Afternoon Activities
Activities give students a wider view of Guatemalan culture and history, and increase social interaction among students. Juan Sisay's activities aim to provide a variety of authentic, interactive experiences.
With this in mind, we have designed our activities to be fun, engaging, informative, and social. Activities include excursions and tours, informative lectures, salsa classes, movies, discussions and debates, and visits to ruins, museums, and historical, religious, and natural sites. Each week, a different teacher takes the role of activities coordinator, and is responsible for afternoon activities. Every Monday a schedule of
the weeks activities is presented so that students can think in advance about how they would like to plan their week.
All activities are free and optional, with some having a small entrance fee or transportation cost (usually around $1 - $4)
Weekends are your free time away from school to explore Xela and enjoy the nightlife. They are also a great time to take larger trips and get outside of Xela. Juan Sisay offers a longer trip one day each weekend that usually lasts several hours, goes to a destination further afield, and may include higher transportation fees.
