Juan Sisay accepts Guatemalan Quetzales, US Dollars, personal checks (made out to "Escuela de Espanol Juan Sisay") and travelers checks.

Are there ATMS available in Xela?
There are several ATMS in central park and a few other areas around town. Visa is accepted everywhere, and mastercard in about half.

How safe is Xela?
Far removed from the problems of Guatemala City, Xela is a safer, more tradiational town. It is highly compatible for first time visitors and experienced travelers alike. As in any city, at night, it is advisable to take a taxi or walk in groups. Juan Sisay has relationships with two trusted taxi companies. Additionaly, it is advisable to keep valuables and large sums of cash at home, or in your homestay when going out.
