Annika Friis, student 11 weeks, 2009

I have been in the school for almost 3 months now - and i've got ot say that i am loving it! I started out knowing no spanish at all, but now, after 11 weeks in the school, I am able to understand what people are saying to me and answer.

The teachers are the greatest! They are definitely interested in more than just teaching. They really try to build a relationship with their students, and we do a lot of stuff outside the school as well.

Since I've been here for so long I haven't been able to concentrate all five hours of every day, but my teacher has been great at getting me to do other things. For example, we translate a song or play cards while talking in Spanish.

I am already planning to come back to this fantastic school and this amazing city Xela has it all - safer than Guatemala City and fewer tourists than Antigua. I cant wait to come back to visit the friends I've made here, and then on to the USA to visit the other students ive been hanging out with.
