To be honest, before I came to Xela, I had never heard of Juan Sisay, but the moment I was picked up I was supported in every possible way. Not just learning español, but also with the environmental programs and projects i am taking part in.

Since I had too much work, I was allowed to stay even longer at school - even at night - to finish my work!

I really appreciate the open, kind atmosphere here at school and the dedication and motivation of the professors working here!!!

I am greatful for the activities whihch are being organized for us. The volcano trip was absolutely great, and so was the costume party... super heroes / villains.

Here at Juan Sisay, the teachers are more than just common teachers. They support the students in really getting used to Xela, even when it comes to everyday activities like finding the correct bus, restaurant, a cheap mobile phone, or necessary books. I have already reccomend Juan Sisay to friends who plan to travel to Guatemala next year.

I LOVE Juan Sisay! I have undoubtedly learned more Spanish here in two and a half months than I have learned in years of studying in high school. My experience in Guatemala has been unforgettable thanks mostly to this school, and I plan to return and study more as soon as I get the opportunity. As a person who never expected to travel much, this experience has opened the world to me, and incited a passion for travel and learning I never had before. It doesnt hurt that in almost ten years of studying the language on and off, I am conversational in this language for the first time in my life. !Gracias por TODO! The terrific friends i've made, the places and things i've seen, and the ammount of Spanish i've learned -- this trip has been priceless, and I can't thank you all enough.

!La quiero Juan Sisay!

I have been here for three and a half weeks now, going home monday.

These weeks have been the best in my entire life. I LOVE Juan Sisay, Xela, and Guatemala. I've learned so much not only Spanish, but about life, different cultures, food, and people... And i've gotten to know so many amazing people.

My family is amazing and all the activiites have been amazing. I haven't been disapointed once!

Thanks Juan Sisay! Some time i'll come visit!

I stayed at Juan Sisay for three months, and it has been the best three months, so far, in my life. The school is awesome and the teachers and the administartion makes you feel at home. You get some of your best friends at the school, from all over the world. It's hard when you need to say goodbeye, but you ahve the experiences from all the trips the school arranges, like hot springs, climbing volcanoes, and going to the beach. I am going to miss the school and the friends I got her. It is an experience you can't miss out on!

Juan Sisay has taught me much more than just Spanish. It is a cultural learning center that has allowed me to recieve an in-depth understanding of Guatemalan culture and the contemperary issues that face many of the countries most vulnerable populations. The language and skill sets that I learned in Xela and at Juan Sisay have allowed me to further my studies in Guatemala, undertaking a project examining the Efficacy of Western Medicine within the country.

Juan Sisay is more than a school - it is a home.

I would not be doing what I am doing today if it were not for my time at Juan Sisay, and if it were not for Juan Sisay I would not have the friends that I have today. It has made me a better person.

My time at Juan Sisay was the most productive, memorable, and enjoyable time I have ever spent traveling.

I started studying Spanish at Juan Sisay after 4 months of volunteer work around Guatemala. Despite what I once believed, I found that a school really was the best place to learn. I didn't want a "ready-made experience," which I feared would be the case, and at Juan Sisay I got just the opposite. The teachers were genuine friends, and the homestay and activities showed me a part of Guatemalan life I would likely never have seen as a volunteer or backpacker.

My Spanish also improved enormously. The classes, homework, and after school activities were combined in a perfect environment of 24/7 Spanish. My teachers were not only great instructors, but personal friends - an opportunity any student should be thrilled to have.

After living one year in Guatemala, I can say without a doubt, that I would not have the level of understanding of Spanish, or of this country, without my 5 weeks at Juan Sisay. I have reccomended it to countless travelers in Guatemala, and I will gladly continue to reccomend Juan Sisay to anyone with a real desire to learn.
